- Chain and cables
- Frame, seat and handlebars

- Yearly professional inspection
- PROPER HELMET AND USE.
- ANSI approved helmets.
- How to fit and wear helmet.
- Comfortable, well ventilated, padded, snug fitting.
- Wear low on forehead, not tilted back.
- Excellent visibility.
- Care and maintenance.
- Keep clean and dry.
- Do not store in hot climates (i.e. hot auto).
- Do not handle carelessly (i.e. drop or throw).
- GOOD BODY VISIBILITY.
- Wear reflective clothing/tape.
- Dress in layers in cold weather.
- Avoid long loose clothing.
- Wear leg clips with long pants.
- Wear eye and hand protection.
- SHARE ROAD WITH OTHERS.
A. Cycle defensively
- Assume others do not see you.
- Yield to cars
- Obey rules of the road.
- Avoid heavy traffic areas.
- Keep safe distance from cars.
- Enter roadways carefully.
- Check before changing lanes.
- Make SAFE LEFT and RIGHT turns
- BE ALERT IN SPECIAL SITUATIONS.
- Rain or bad weather.
- Nighttime.
- Uneven or slippery road surfaces.
- Cycling with other children.
- Animals.
- Speed bumps.
- Trolley tracks.
- Long distances.
- PROTECT YOUR BICYCLE FROM THIEVES.
- Register your bike with local police department.
B. Keep a file.
- Serial number.
- Registration number.
- Mark your bike with your name or identifier.
- Consider insuring your bicycle.
Always lock your bicycle.
