Sex Offender Procedures

Sex Offender Registry File

The Brookline Police Department places great emphasis on maintaining accurate information on registered sex offenders who live or work in Brookline, or who committed their crimes in Brookline. Detectives routinely conduct address checks on offenders who live or work in Brookline to confirm the offender's information/residence.

We are currently prohibited from posting Level 3 sex offenders on our web site. Level 3 sex offenders are those individuals who are at the highest risk of re-offending. We are awaiting the outcome of several court cases that will resolve this issue.

The Brookline Police Department's Community Service Division periodically distributes information on Level 3 sex offenders to schools, public buildings, day care centers, etc. We also distribute information on Boston's Level 3 sex offenders who live or work within two miles of Brookline.

Brookline residents who wish to receive information about sex offenders who live or work in Brookline or who committed their crimes in Brookline may come to the Public Safety Building to complete a "request for sex offender information" form. This form will be forwarded to the Detective Division's Identification Unit. The resident will then be contacted when the information is ready to be picked up. Residents will receive information on Level 2 and 3 sex offenders. Level 2 sex offenders are those individuals who are at moderate risk of re-offending.

For more information, or to download the "request for sex offender information" form, please visit the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry website:
