How do you become a Brookline Police Officer?

The Recruitment Mission
To attract and maintain a diversified group of employees selected by implementing effective recruitment procedures that result in a variety of employment opportunities and positions for qualified individuals, particularly: minorities, woman, bilingual persons and other protected group members.

How to become a Brookline Police Officer
Candidates must pass a written examination administered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Human resources Division.

Candidates Must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be at least 19 years of age
  • Possess a High School Diploma or have a G.E.D. certificate
  • Possess a valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license
  • Pass character background investigation, medical and psychological exams and physical agility test

Recruit Training: Extensive classroom and field training in:

  • Constitutional Law
  • Criminal Law
  • Patrol Procedures
  • Crisis Intervention/Physical Training
  • First responders (medical)
  • Defensive Driving
  • Firearms
