Technology and Communication
The Technology and Communications Unit of the Records and Service Division ensures that all telephone calls and all radio transmissions are recorded twenty-four hours a day and are kept available for public review for a minimum of sixty days. The keeping of these recordings, ensures that any complaints made about improper police service or improper handling of a police call, can first be investigated by examining the original communication that the department received. Oftentimes, the availability of this information helps to resolve the complaint. If you are seeking this type of information, first come to the service window of the Records and Service Division and we will, if available, provide the information you have requested.
Arrest Records
Our Division, also maintains all arrest video booking tapes for three years. This allows defendant's accused of Operating Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor, and other related crimes, to gain access to the booking process, which often will show the condition of a defendant at his/her time of arrest and also will show any field sobriety tests that were taken. The Division also maintains all cell block video tapes and all outside perimeter video tapes, for a period of ninety days. In order to obtain any of the aforementioned video tapes, a request can be made at the counter of the Records and Service Division. If the person requesting a copy of the video tape is authorized to receive such a copy, then within approximately two days a copy will be made available. There is a cost of $25.00 to view one of these tapes and a cost $50.00 to purchase one of these tapes.
Fiscal Year Budget
The Captain of the Records and Service Division prepares the Department's Fiscal Year Budget, which is a matter of public record and available to the public. There is usually a copy available for immediate public viewing at the Division's service desk.
