- Our Department
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Brookline (MA) Police Department. We are a police organization made up of 136 sworn officers, 16 civilian dispatchers, 24 full-time and 18 part-time support personnel. Brookline sits next door to the City of Boston and is home to approximately 59,000 residents. We have a budget of more than 15 million dollars and our Dispatch Center handles all calls for Police, Fire and Ambulance services. An important part of our mission is to work with our community to prevent crimes and problems or to solve them before they negatively impact a person’s quality of life. We do this by providing the most efficient, effective and highest quality of police services as possible.
To assist us in our efforts, we provide our officers with the most up-to-date information concerning emerging crime problems, neighborhood concerns, and quality of life issues, as well as information about matters that are occurring in other communities that may have an impact on us. Over the past several years, we have consistently adjusted our patrol strategies in order to place officers in locations where they have the best chance of making a positive impact on the issues we are dealing with at the time.
As we went about designing this website, one of our goals was to provide as much information as possible to our residents so that they could see the work our officers are performing. It is our belief that by keeping our community informed, we will be able to do a better job. As a police organization, we have accomplished a lot over the years. It is part of our culture to constantly make changes that will allow us to do the best we possibly can. We hope that you will take the time to read the various reports we have included on the pages of this site.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website!
